What is this technology?
COB (Chip on Board) is a modern LED strip production technology that consists in a special placement of LEDs directly on a copper conductive substrate. The LEDs are small and have no housing, so they can be attached very close to each other. The LEDs are covered with a layer of phosphor on top.
Why is this better than traditional SMD LEDs?

Since the LEDs are located very close to each other, when turned on we do not see boundaries between them. As a result – that very continuous strip of light we expect from lighting.
The absence of an LED housing increases the light dispersion angle: 170 degrees versus 120 in SMD technology. This means we get softer and more uniform strip glow. And the phosphor coating corrects the strip's color rendering and protects the chips from damage.
LED chips in COB technology are connected in a special way, which ensures effective heat dissipation and increases strip durability. This increases the strip's service life.
COB LED strip can be installed without a special profile or in a very thin profile. It also has greater flexibility, allowing creating lighting of non-standard shape and laying it in hard-to-reach places.
