IEK GROUP General Director Andrey Zabelin published a column in "Rossiyskaya Gazeta," where he spoke about the digital transformation of the fuel and energy complex (FEC) and how a domestic electrical equipment manufacturer can contribute to it.
Andrey Zabelin noted that changes in the FEC are proceeding in accordance with the digital transformation strategy adopted by the government for the period up to 2023. According to the document, transformation should occur using domestic information and communication technologies, in the future united by a digital platform and a common technical policy. Solving these tasks requires the introduction of a unified information exchange standard, which will ensure sustainable and uninterrupted functioning of the FEC's digital environment.
At the same time, the standard must be supranational, for work, in particular, with Belarus, as well as other CIS countries. This will help industry players use a unified approach when creating solutions for automating various nodes and components.
The new standard, besides ensuring sustainable and uninterrupted functioning of the FEC's digital environment, is economically beneficial. It will allow, on the one hand, to reduce capital costs, on the other — to more actively introduce innovative technologies of the fuel and energy complex. Freed-up funds can be directed to business development without resorting to budgetary funds or tariff increases for consumers.
"Modern practice shows that digitalization of processes in the FEC significantly reduces the overall energy consumption of industrial installations, leading to cost reductions of 10-20%," notes Andrey Zabelin. "It is important that such software solutions do not need to be created from scratch: the necessary tools exist, including in the IEK GROUP portfolio."
Ultimately, the General Director of IEK GROUP believes, digitalization of FEC enterprises in accordance with the interstate standard will allow approaching the achievement of the goals of the complex's digital transformation strategy.
