Experts from more than 10 BRICS+ countries approved the new "Electrical Installation" competency specification, moderated by IEK GROUP. The competency standard was presented at a specialized International Project Session held with the support of the Agency for the Development of Professions and Skills, as well as the International Digital Platform for Skills and Professions Development.
One of the main provisions of the new international standard is the emphasis on the specialist's digital skills: configuring programmable logic relays and controllers, working with digital drives and human-machine interface. Essentially, a modern electrician works with devices that are part of the small automation pyramid, i.e., creates not just an electrical installation, but electrical engineering engineering complexes.
The concept was supported by specialists from Brazil and Iran. Brazilian expert Carlos Leotte Briz noted that "the comfort, economy, and flexibility of electrical solutions largely depend on digital skills." According to Iranian representative Hamed Ghanbari, the new standard can be applied in most countries because any device is programmed based on international IEC languages.
Specialists from the BRICS Academy, located in China, recognized "digital electrical installation" as a future competency and expressed a desire to test it in their countries as an exchange of experience.
Experts of the International Session and IEK GROUP specialists also planned educational seminars. They will take place in April 2024 in the Skill Camp format. Furthermore, at the final of the VII Open IEK Electricians Championship in Moscow, international competitions will be organized. Tasks for all contestants will correspond to the new international "Electrical Installation" competency standard.
